ReStart DC Partners

The Players

ReStart DC strives to make AEDs as ubiquitous as fire extinguishers to maximize the likelihood that a person in sudden cardiac arrest can be defibrillated within 3 minutes. Through collaboration with the GW Cheney Cardiovascular Institute, GW Lifesaver AED Support Program, and the GW Department of Emergency Medicine, ReStart DC works to achieve this goal.

Founded in 2006, the mission of The Richard B. and Lynne V. Cheney Cardiovascular Institute (Cheney Institute) is to promote clinical research, education, patient care and community service with the goal to accelerate the pace of scientific discovery, reduce mortality and improve the quality of life of Americans with cardiovascular disease.

Strategic Partners

ReStart DC is an ambitious endeavor and to be successful requires collaboration with strategic partners. The following organizations are committed to ensuring the success of ReStart DC.

Larry King Cardiac Foundation (LKCF)

The Larry King Cardiac Foundation (LKCF) was established in 1988 to provide funding for life-saving treatment for individuals who, due to limited means or no insurance, would otherwise be unable to receive the treatment and care they so desperately need. Working with premier cardiac centers, such as The George Washington University Hospital, LKCF has embraced an ambitious goal - to "Save a Heart a Day." For more information, visit www.lkcf.org.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association (SCAA)

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association (SCAA) is an organization singularly focused on sudden cardiac arrest. Its membership is dedicated to promoting solutions to prevent sudden cardiac death, including increased awareness, immediate bystander action, public access to defibrillation (PAD), cardiovascular disease prevention, and access to preventative therapies.
